fire thief
Terry Deary
Prometheus is punished for stealing fire from Zeus and giving it to humanity, condemned to an endless torment by a giant eagle. When he escapes into the human world of 1858, he meets an orphaned young thief who survives by relieving rich people of their money. Their unlikely friendship pulls Greek mythology into nineteenth-century streets, and an ordinary criminal life becomes a flight from divine punishment and ancient enemies.
